Inherit the WindThe main source of Inherit the Wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee is taking astand. The crook begins in Hillsboro, Tennessee when a man named Bertram Cates breaks the lawby teaching the veto Darwins Theory. The most famous orators of the time, MatthewHarrison Brady and Henry Drummond came to this small religious townsfolk of Hillsboro. Brady isprosecuting against Cates and Drummond is defending him. After days of battle, the verdict isfinally decided and Bertram Cates is comprise guilty. Many people take stands for different reasons. Some take stands to position a message outthat needs to be sent. That is what happened in this play. A man named Matthew Harrison Bradydid exactly that. A gray-haired man, he believes strongly in the Bible took the stand. Althoughhis partner Tom Davenport strongly disagreed with Bradys actions. Brady thought that thiswould expediency his trial. Your Honor, this is preposterous (page 75) said Davenport as he triesto object t o Drummonds attester (Brady).
